The Benefits of Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil has been around for a very long time, since about the 1800's, but has recently found its way into many hair products. It is one of the most beneficial ingredients used in hair care today. This extract is a derivative of the melaleuca tree in Australia. It is superb for cleaning out the hair follicle and promoting hair growth, more so than many of the other products on the market today. Occasionally people have an irritated scalp caused by bacteria or other irritants and this product can assist with healing the effects of harmful bacteria or hair products.

In terms of hair product tea tree oil can prevent and help with bacterial and fungal infections to the scalp. This has a direct benefit to hair, especially ethnic hair since many harmful products may have been previously applied. A solution to this is to apply the tea tree product which is perfect for restoring dry or damaged hair. Tea tree mixed with a combination of other oils can prevent scalp infection and dandruff as well. One must think of the extract like medicine. There are different concentrations of this chemical found in various products.

What you generally see in industry are hair products that contain approximately two percent concentration tea tree oil. It is particularly useful in shampoo form and since it can be applied to hair on a regular basis for healthy hair. It generally makes ethnic hair more durable, thicker and robust. The product "Proclaim Tea Tree Shampoo" also has great effect on someone who is losing their hair. In general scalp irritation will be reduced, the follicles cleansed and the hair will be strengthened and become more durable. This function of relieving scalp irritation greatly helps with ethnic hair because often times harsh products can be used that may damage hair.

However, if this oil product is used it will maintain healthy hair. By nature, it is a potent antiseptic. It is also good to note that it is not irritating to the skin like chemicals found in other products. It is also known for cleaning out the sebaceous glands on the scalp. This is desirable to most people. The net result is healthy hair, irritation free, and can be more easily worked with. And when you are styling ethnic hair, it certainly helps. Other hair products that contain tea tree oil are root stimulator, conditioner, shampoo, wax, and oils, as well as other ethnic hair products. All of which contribute to overall ethnic beauty. In summary through the usage of the tea tree oil in the right proportion you can achieve superb hair results and maintain the overall health of your hair.

Hair products containing tea tree oil are generally not too much more expensive than that of the normal variety. Only about forty percent more cost, but the benefit to your hair is fantastic. When you invest in these products and apply it to your hair it is an investment that is well worth it.

Natural Preservatives

Essential Oils - Some essential oils can be considered as natural preservatives. This is because of their antiseptic qualities. Ti tree, Eucalyptus and Lavender are probably the most well known oils used in this manner.

Grapefruit Seed Extract - This oil is obtained from the crushed seed of the grapefruit. It is reputed to be a natural antibiotic as well as an antiseptic and disinfectant. This is a safe preservative for use in beauty products that contain water.

Neem Oil - This oil is relatively new on the health scene, but it has been used in India for a long time. It is reputed to be antifungal and antibacterial.

Rosemary Extract - is a powerful antioxidant. It also helps to minimize the oxidation and of some vitamins and amino acids.

Vitamin E (d-alpha Tocopherol) - This is probably the most well known natural preservative for oils. It contains antioxidants that can prevent oils from going rancid.

Neem Oil, Hair Growth And Hair Loss. Does Neem Hair Oil Work?

Author: Birgit "B" Bradtke
http://http://www.discoverneem.com/

Neem hair oil regularly receives rave reviews from customers.

The benefits from using neem oil on hair can be impressive. Neem oil can relieve dry and itchy scalp, dandruff, the symptoms of scalp psoriasis, as well as giving you silky, shiny, stronger hair and encourage growth. It really makes a big difference, and it does so seemingly over night.

People who have already tried everything to help their thinning, dry hair are besides themselves when seeing the immediate improvements after using neem oil hair products.

Neem oil can even help with hair problems like hair loss and premature graying, where loss of hair or loss of color is caused by imbalances and health issues, rather than normal aging. (Sorry, even neem oil won't stop the aging process...)

How Does Neem Hair Oil Work?

Healthy hair is the result of a healthy scalp, and your scalp is part of your skin. Everything that's been said about the use of neem oil for skin care is also relevant to using neem oil for your hair. But don't focus only on the neem oil.

Traditional Indian hair beauty treatments use neem leaf.

A watery extract, basically a tea made from neem leaves, is used as a rinse to prevent hair loss, and neem leaf pastes are used like conditioning packs. Those neem hair treatments soothe any irritations, prevent dryness and flaking, nourish the scalp and improve its general immunity and health. Exactly as they do for the skin on the rest of your body.

The neem treatment also leaves your hair shiny and silky, soft but strong. The downfall, neem oil stinks. But, it is easier to obtain and can be scented with the use of essential oil.

Most people's skin/scalp is dry from too much exposure to harsh chemicals, environmental toxins, not to forget the stuff in your average shampoo... Oil is good. Oil is a rich, nourishing treatment. Regular warm oil treatments, say with for example olive oil or coconut oil, are beneficial for your hair in any way.

How To Use Neem Oil On Hair

A neem hair oil based on other oils and enriched with neem leaf extract is probably the ideal way to use neem on hair. You have the benefit of an oil treatment and the benefits of neem, combined with ease of use and a beautiful scent.

Add some of it to your shampoo to make your own neem shampoo, or dilute it in a light carrier oil to make your own neem hair oil. (Olive, almond, coconut or jojoba all make great hair oils.)

For an intensive treatment massage neem hair oil into your hair and scalp, leave it for 30 minutes at least, up to over night, and then wash your hair with neem shampoo. You'll love the difference.

Herb-Infused Oil

This is my Recipe for an Herb-Infused Oil

You will need a glass jar and a plastic tip bottle like those used to apply hair dye.

4 oz. Grapeseed oil
1 oz. Emu oil
1/2 oz. Vegetable glycerin
1/2 oz. Aloe Vera Juice
1/2 tbsp. Horsetail
1/2 tbsp. Nettle
1/2 tbsp. Calendula
1/2 tbsp. Burdock Root
4 Rosehips
Lavender, Chamomile, and Rosemary Essential Oil drops

I placed all the oil and herbs in a glass jar. I placed the jar in a pot of boiling hot water after turning the stove off and and left the herbs in the water until the water cooled. After three days, I poured the mix into my squeeze bottle and added the essential oils. I placed a piece of stocking over the top to act as a strainer during use.

It is recommended that you massage the oil into your scalp every few days.

My testimony: I haven't used the oil consistently in the suggested manner and don't have any more growth than expected within the first year of going natural. Average hair growth is 1/2 inch per month.

Rosemary Oil

Rosemary oil and rosemary teas are used extensively for hair care in shampoos and lotions. Regular use of rosemary oil helps in stimulating follicles, as a result of which, hair grow longer and stronger. It is also believed that rosemary oil slows down premature hair loss and graying of hair. Hence it is an excellent tonic for bald people. Rosemary essential oil is also beneficial for dry and flaky scalps. Regular massage of scalp with rosemary oil nourishes the scalp and removes dandruff. Further, it is often mixed with tea tree oil and basil oil to treat scalp problems.

Essential Oils

Many women are turning to the use of natural oils to treat their hair and skin.

Essential Oils are known for their therapeutic and medicinal properties. They are used commonly as pure and natural therapeutic treatments offering an effective natural alternative to everyday medications and beauty products commonly found in stores.

These oils contain natural plant materials from which they are derived offering a soothing remedy for many common human ailments. These natural oils are volatile and
are obtained by a steam distillation process.

100% pure natural essential oils are known to be most effective. However, you must be very knowledgeable about the use of these oils and their combinations in order to begin using them. It's best to consult a knowledgeable essential oil/aromatherapy doctor prior to considering using and combining these oils.

Note: You should not apply the undiluted essential oil on your body as these are very concentrated and you may experience discomfort. These oils should also never be taken internally.

NATURAL HAIR OILS FOR DREADS AND NATURAL STYLES:

It's usually hard to find the right hair oil for ethnic and multi-ethnic women. Many products claim to be "everything" but really offer "nothing".
When looking for a good essential hair oil , opt for the natural hair oils (like the ones listed
below). Try to stay away from petroleum, waxy oils or petrolatum. What these man-made products do is cause build-up on the hair and scalp. They don't allow the hair and scalp to breathe which can be detrimental to proper hair growth.
To keep your curls healthy, try the following natural essential oils:

Patchouli Oil - Adds moisture and sheen to dreads.
Sage Oil - Stimulates growth and is said to kill bacteria.
Rosemary Oil - Adds sheen to hair, stimulates growth is said to be good at fighting dandruff.
Sweet Almond Oil - Great for fighting a dry, itchy scalp. Contains vitamins E and F. Also good for itchy scalp.
Primrose Oil - Conditiions and moisturizes hair.
Jojoba Oil - Great for adding moisture to a dry scalp. Jojoba oil smoothes and conditions hair.
Avocado Oil - Contains vitamins A, D, and E.
Birch Oil - Great anti-dandruff scalp soother.
Calendula Oil - Light astringent. Is said to soothe the scalp and eczema problems.
Olive or Extra Olive Oil - An excellent leave-in conditioner.
Emu Oil - Natural & non-toxic, non-comedogenic (does not clog pores)...fights dandruff.

These essential oils are great at adding moisture and sheen to locks and other natural styles.
