Hi there! I ran across your blog from the iseecolor site...I'm a newbie natural (last cfc 9/26/08) I haven't BC yet but will soon! Right now i'm wearing braids & twists! Your site is very helpful and inspiring! So Thanks & Many Blessings...
ReplyDeleteHello! I'm new to your site by the way of your posting a comment on newlynatural's blog in regards to QB balm. I'm transtioioning to natural ( 5 mos post relaxer) and I'm dying to try a twist set. I'm thinking about trying either QB's balm or gel on my 4b roots/bone straight relaxed ends. Any suggestions on the two?
ReplyDeleteHey there, Because you still have relaxer on your ends, a gel is going to be your best option for hold. I'd suggest using an alcohol free gels because alcohol based products are very drying. I'd also suggest staying away from protein based gels. A little protein can strengthen your hair but too much can cause your hair to become brittle resulting in breakage. There are safe alcohols such as ceteryl alcohols used in other hair products but thats an entirely different disscussion. :-) Be sure to begin using a leave-in condition and moisturizer on your hair under your gel prior to twisting and braiding and pick up some satin covered foam rollers from the local beauty supply store to give your hair a little bump on the ends. You can contact me directly at rcarson@triad.rr.com if I can be of more assistance. There is a link to my fotki over to the left in my profile section that will show you my journey. Have a great day. Thanks for dropping by.
